Our library has really changed! Have you noticed? Recent
renovations have changed the face and
space of our main floor Reference area and transformed it into the Reference Commons.
Adjacent to this area, we've added the Business, Law, and Information Science Sources (BLISS) area.
Here's what happened:
The walls came down on the Reference Department, and we now
have one large open area. The Reference Commons contains the comprehensive resources
from the former Reference Department. As you enter, you will see:
- Centralized Reference Desk for assistance
- Extensive collections of reference indexes and literary criticism
- Wireless hubs and plugs for laptops throughout the entire space
- Interlibrary Loan Department now fully operational in a separate office
- Newly established office of Instructional Services
- BookStack entrance moved to center stage as you enter the building
- Copy Center with four photocopiers
- Prominent wall space available for Library Exhibits
- Individual study and collaborative work areas
In the Business, Law, and Information Science Sources (BLISS) area, you will find:

- Large retrospective and current reference collection from the
Center for Business Research (CBR)
- Reference Materials and a comprehensive periodicals collection from the
Library and Information Science Library
- Outstanding collection of New York State and Federal legal sources from the Reference
Department
- Gazebo for collaborative study
- Quiet Study Lounge that provides serene space for concentration
On the lower level, the Periodicals Department
has undergone a major facelift. Aside from the new paint and carpeting, a study center has been created, and there
are four photocopiers and additional computer workstations available. Business periodicals from the former
CBR have been relocated here, as has the Library's
Technical Services Department.
And with the grand opening of the Bookmark Café, our library coffee shop, you'll never need to
leave the library! Now you can come to the library to:
- Research a topic
- Check out a book
- Get research assistance
- Prepare for a lecture
- Practice a speech
- Collaborate on a project
|
- Plug in your laptop
- Use our wireless technology
- Type your paper in the IT Department
- Meet your friends
- Attend a class
- Enjoy a cup of coffee
