About the Department of Criminal Justice
Prepare for a service-oriented career in criminal justice by earning
a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science or an Accelerated B.A./M.S.
in Criminal Justice from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.
Your coursework will cover the ins and outs of the criminal justice
system, ranging from a suspects entry into the system through
to correctional reform programs. In between, you will study prosecution,
pretrial services, adjudication, sentencing and sanctions.
In addition to coursework, you will gain first-hand experience
about the criminal justice system through internships. Our students
have worked for the courts, social service agencies, research institutes,
probation departments, alternatives-to-incarceration agencies, correctional
facilities and other venues.
The colleges ideal location on Long Island, and its close
proximity to New York City, offers access to excellent internships
and guest lecturers from police departments, branches of leading
criminal justice organizations, state and federal courts, law firms,
correctional facilities, and social service agencies.

in all areas of the criminal justice field, from terrorism to organized
crime to women in policing. They will help you understand you what
its like to work in the trenches, day in and day out. You
will graduate from our program well prepared for a career in probation,
parole, law enforcement, court administration, corrections, juvenile
justice, diversionary programs and security management.
