LIU Post Wins National Award for Community Service LIU Post has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for 2013, earning national recognition for the thousands of hours of student volunteer work and for initiatives that serve children with disabilities, trauma victims and youth and families in underserved areas. LIU Prepares for Middle States Site Visit Long Island University is pleased to welcome a team of peer evaluators from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on March 18-20 as part of a reaccreditation process that is carried out every 10 years.  The team, composed of higher education professionals from nine universities and colleges, will meet with LIU administrators, faculty and students to elevate LIU’s qualifications for reaccreditation. Marking the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, award-winning historian Harold Holzer will discuss “Emancipating Lincoln: The Proclamation in Text, Context, and Memory” March 21 at 12:30 p.m. in Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall.
