GPO Federal Digital System (FDsys)
This is the main gateway to federal information, providing computerized access to many important sources such as the Federal Register, Congressional Record,congressional bills, Supreme Court decisions, Commerce Business Daily (a daily announcement for business opportunities with the federal government), and much more. The keyword access that this site provides to these documents is more effective than the equivalent paper indexes.

Monthly Catalog of U. S. Government Publications (MOCAT)

provides an index to almost all documents published by the federal government since January 1994 including the full text online. The Monthly Catalog provides the Superintendent of Documents classification number (SuDocs) for each document that it announces. The documents in most federal depositories are arranged by SuDocs number.

The Congressional Record is the newspaper of Congress. It contains remarks made by congressmen on the House and Senate floors, calendars, and status of legislation. National Library of Medicine's Index Medicus and Medline on-line. The most extensive bibliographic sources for medical and biological science. For more detailed discription, see below:
Ebsco: a commercial vendor that allows access to the Medline; a database that contains over 9 million citations to medically related periodical articles from 1966 to the present. Abstracts are provided for most references. A few articles from participating journals may be viewed directly online. Most articles are not available online but may be ordered electronically during the search process.

National Center of Health Statistics
Besides providing statistical data such as the incidence of particular diseases, NCHS acts as a gateway to the thousands of documents published in the agency's Vital and Health Statistics series. These include material derived from such surveys such as NHANES, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

provides computerized access to many important law related federal documents, some of which are discussed below. The keyword access that this site provides to these documents is usually makes them much easier to use than the equivalent paper indexes.
The Code of Federal Regulations
contains all federal regulations currently in force in and in codified form i.e. arranged by agency and function.
Federal Register (1994-present)
is the newspaper of the executive arm of the government. It contains proposed and final regulations, presidential proclamations, announcements of all sorts including those about grants and much more. The detailed keyword access provided by the web is usually much easier to use than the paper index. Other law related documents provided by GPO Access include congressional bills, Supreme Court decisions, public laws, and the United States Code the last being a compilation of all federal laws currently in force arranged by subject.
