Archive Portal (Footage.net) Remote access available
Still in the pilot stage, this streaming video service provides access to over two million clips of historical, entertainment, and informational video and audio content that includes interviews, unedited footage, archival footage, global news stories, and more from over 100 years of human activity and natural history that has been documented by motion picture cameras and sound recorders. Material comes from over thirty archives, including HBO, CNN, BBC, WGBH, Discovery, ABC News, Media Burn, NBC Universal, Associated Press, WPA Film Library, National Geographic, National Film Board of Canada, and more. A full subscription would include licensing rights for any educational purpose, such as student films, research papers, projects, presentations, etc.
A username and password are required. LIU students and faculty can obtain them by contacting the Reference Desk (516-299-2305) or the Instructional Media Center (516-299-2895).

Kanopy (Kanopy) Remote access available Full text available
A streaming video service that provides films covering arts, health, sciences, humanities, business/training, teacher education, and media/communications. The trial includes the collections: MEF Collection - Green Planet Collection - Georges Melies Collection - Asian Business Leaders Collection - African American Studies Collection - Stanford Executive Briefings Collection - Psychology & Evolutionary Psychology - Great Artists and The Impressionists Series - Documentary Educational Resources: New Releases 2013 - and Into the Classroom Media: Gender, Language and Communication Collection.
