Welcome to this sampling of our more than 5000 movie posters, mostly from the 1940's and 1950's. This represents the best 100 movies in our collection, according to the Halliwell's Film Guide. Enjoy these works of art whose stunning graphics and vibrant colors had attracted our eye and compelled our attention. They lured us into the darkened haven of the local "Bijou," where we sat mesmerized at the wonders flickering on the Big Screen.

This collection encompasses a wide range of comedies, westerns, musicals, war movies, mysteries, dramas, and other genre. You will discover such cinematic treasures as Death of a Salesman, Shane, I'm All Right Jack, Gigi, Stranger on a Train, Rashomon, and All About Eve. See a galaxy of movie stars, such as Marilyn Monroe, James Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, and Alec Guiness. This rich collection is located in the Special Collections Department of the Library, where selected posters are continuosly exhibited on the main and upper levels of the Library. Come and see!
