What is
Cooperative Education?
Cooperative Education is an educational
program that combines your academic studies with work experience in a
field related to your major and career goals.
Cooperative Education is an opportunity to gain valuable job experience
and build a professional looking resume.
Cooperative Education:
 |
Helps you
test out a career while working with professionals in the field. |
 |
Allows you
to explore career options if you're undecided about a career. |
 |
Assists you
in gaining valuable experience and become more marketable before graduation. |
 |
Helps to
open doors to future employment. |
 |
Provides
a job so you can earn extra cash for college expenses.* |
 |
Co-op is
a non-credit, pass/fail course and will appear on your transcript
with the name of your placement for future employers to see. |
*Some industries
provide only non-paying co-ops.
There are two ways to co-op:
 |
Parallel
Plan allows
you to attend CW Post full-time while working part-time for 15-20
hours per week. |
 |
Alternating
Plan provides you with an opportunity
to leave campus for a semester and work full-time. During this semester
you will remain a full-time student at CW Post and your financial
package will remain in place. You can still graduate in four years
by arranging your academic schedules carefully. |
How do I get started?
 |
Take
the EEE-1, pre-placement seminar |
 |
Be
on good academic standing |
 |
Have
at least a 2.5 GPA. |
EEE
The EEE-1 seminar is a four-week workshop
designed to help you with resume writing, career research and job interviewing
as it relates to co-op. Please see your academic counselor to register
for EEE-1. If you are graduating within a year or are a transfer student,
please speak to a Co-op coordinator to determine if this course may be
waived.
