Computer Facilities
The Rockland Graduate Campus has two computer
labs equipped with IBM compatible computers. Appropriate software
is available for student and faculty use. The Long Island University
Network spans across six campuses and provides our students
access to additional software, as well as on-line searching
of every database available in the Long Island University Library
system.
The main computer lab is located on the first floor of the
Rockland Graduate Campus main building; the other lab is located
on the second floor. Students should consult the posted schedule
for hours of operation.
Resource Center
The Rockland Graduate Campus Resource Center has the latest technology, database access and media resources for student research. Provided by the Long Island University Library system, this extensive collection of database indices, websites and online help is available to support students and their course-related projects.
Long Island University offers its students over 200 online databases, many of them full-text. This means students have access to articles and reports from the Resource Center’s computers or any of the computers in the campus’ two computer labs. In addition students can access many of the databases from their personal computers. Some of the available databases are: ProQuest, LexisNexis, Gale, Wilson Web, ERIC, PsychINFO and RefWorks. Students also have access to ebrary which currently offers over 50,000 full-text books, sheet music titles, maps, reports and other authoritative documents. Additionally, students can access LIUCAT, the online catalogue, which includes the book collections of the other Long Island University Libraries. |
Through our Interlibrary Loan service the Rockland Graduate Campus Resource Center is able to obtain material from other libraries. We can have items sent to our campus from other Long Island University campuses or a participating OCLC institution. OCLC consists of more than 3,000 libraries across the country.
The Resource Center provides a quiet and comfortable study area as well as areas for group work.
Student ID pictures are taken in the Resource Center. Without an LIU ID card, a student cannot take out materials or access the online remote databases.
The Resource Center staff is trained in research methods. They will be delighted to help you navigate the library services and refine your research skills in your graduate study.
The Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Graduate Campus building and is open afternoon and evening hours. (845) 359-7200 ex. 5411
