Jackson Kohl

Professor of Music Theory Studies

Dr. Jackson Kohl, Instructor of Theory and Sight-Singing at C.W. Post, received his B.M. degree in piano performance from Queens College/CUNY, and his M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of South Carolina in piano performance. He has been on the faculty at Jefferson Community College/SUNY (Watertown, N.Y.), and also at Community College of Allegheny College in Pittsburgh, P.A. where he was a full-time professor. Unhappy with his surroundings in Pennsylvania, Dr. Kohl returned to Long Island, his native home, and was hired as an Adjunct Professor at the Brentwood Campus of Suffolk Community College.

He has had several years of experience teaching theory and sight singing on the college level and maintains his performance career as a solo, collaborative, and chamber freelance artist. In addition, Dr. Kohl is the author of three completed novels, is the President of the Northport Running Club, and has completed over 15 marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
